How often should you actually dry-clean a suit?

Less often than you think — and how you handle it between cleans matters more than the cleaning itself.

A good suit does not need dry-cleaning after every wear. Over-cleaning is one of the fastest ways to age wool: the solvents and pressing flatten the fibres and shine the fabric over time.

As a rule, a business suit worn regularly needs professional cleaning every 4–6 wears, or once a season for occasional wear. Spot-clean marks early, brush the fabric after each wear, and always clean both the jacket and trousers together so they age at the same rate.
